IGF::OT::IGF "OTHER FUNCTIONS" THE STATEMENT OF WORK (SOW) DEFINES THE WORK TO BE PERFORMED BY THE CONTRACTOR TO DEVELOP A CONCEPTUAL DESIGN FOR A HIAD INFLATABLE STRUCTURE (IS). THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS TASK IS TO IDENTIFY PROMISING INFLATABLE STRUCTURE CONFIGURATIONS, CONSIDER VEHICLE INTEGRATION ISSUES, IDENTIFY DESIGN CHALLENGES, AND IDENTIFY AREAS FOR FUTURE DESIGN DEVELOPMENT. DESIGN CONCEPTS SHOULD CONSIDER IS GEOMETRY, MATERIAL SELECTIONS, MATERIAL STRESSES, FABRICATION METHODS, INFLATION PRESSURE, LEAKAGE, ATTACHMENT METHODS TO INTERFACE WITH THE SPACE VEHICLE, THERMAL PROTECTION SYSTEMS (TPS) INTERFACES, STRUCTURAL STIFFNESS AND ABILITY TO MAINTAIN SHAPE OVER THE SPECIFIED RANGE OF CONDITIONS. DESIGN OPTIONS AND ALTERNATIVES TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS AND OFFER TRADES BETWEEN STRUCTURAL PERFORMANCE AND OTHER PARAMETERS (E.G. SYSTEM MASS, INFLATION PRESSURE, AND MANUFACTURING COMPLEXITY) SHOULD ALSO BE CONSIDERED. NASA WILL PROVIDE SYSTEMS ENGINEERING AND INDEPENDENT ANALYSIS TO EVALUATE THE HIAD DESIGNS THAT RESULT FROM THIS TASK. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL DEVELOP A CONCEPTUAL DESIGN OF A HIAD IS BASED ON THE REQUIREMENTS IN THIS SOW. THE CONTRACTOR S SCOPE OF WORK SHALL INCLUDE THE TASKS LISTED BELOW. THE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS FOR THESE TASKS ARE PROVIDED IN SECTION 3 OF THIS SOW. HIAD CONCEPTUAL DESIGN TASKS INCLUDE: A) PARTICIPATE IN TASK KICK-OFF MEETING B) DEVELOP CONCEPTUAL DESIGN(S) C) CONDUCT STUDIES AND ASSESSMENTS FOR PERFORMANCE EVALUATION D) CONDUCT A MID-TERM DISCUSSION E) CONDUCT A FINAL PRESENTATION OF CONCEPTUAL DESIGN - $93,969 - Thursday the 2nd of August 2012
