PHASE II SBIR TO ROBOTIC RESEARCH TO COMPLETE THE EFFORT DESCRIBED IN THEIR SMALL BUSINESS INNOVATION RESEARCH PROGRAM (SBIR) PROPOSAL, TELEOPERATION OF ROBOTS IMPROVEMENT SYSTEM (TORIS) . ROBOTIC RESEARCH WILL BE UTILIZING ALGORITHMS AND SENSORS TO DEVELOP BETTER MODELS OF THE ENVIRONMENT. THE MODELS WILL THEN BE USED TO CREATE FUTURE SYNTHETIC IMAGES TO IMPROVE THE CONFIDENCE AND SITUATIONAL AWARENESS OF THE OPERATOR. THE SYSTEM WILL BE THOROUGHLY TESTED AT ALL LEVELS FROM UNIT TESTING OF INDIVIDUAL COMPONENTS TO LIVE INTEGRATION, FIELD TESTING AND EVALUATION WITH HUMAN SUBJECTS. DURING THE SECOND HALF OF PHASE II, VARYING LEVELS OF AUTONOMY WILL BE INCORPORATED INTO THE SYSTEM. THE SYSTEM WILL ALSO PROVIDE FEEDBACK TO THE OPERATOR IN THE FORM OF PATH RECOMMENDATIONS AND HAZARD WARNINGS.
