MODIFICATION TO THE ASSESSMENT ENVIRONMENT FOR COMPLEX SYSTEMS - THE VERIFICATION AND VALIDATION RESEARCH FOR FLIGHT-CRITICAL SYSTEMS PROGRAM IS DEVELOPING TECHNIQUES, METHODS, AND TOOLS TO PROVIDE TIME- AND COST-EFFECTIVE ASSURANCE OF SAFE AND RELIABLE SYSTEMS OPERATION THROUGH DESIGN, DEVELOPMENT, VERIFICATION AND VALIDATION. ONE TOOL THAT IS REQUIRED TO SUPPORT THIS RESEARCH IS THE ASSESSMENT ENVIRONMENT (AE). THIS PROCUREMENT IS FOR MODIFICATION ASSESSMENT ENVIRONMENT FOR COMPLEX SYSTEMS WHICH WAS DEVELOPED AND BUILT BY WEST VIRGINIA HIGH TECH CONSORTIUM (WVHTC) FOUNDATION DURING FISCAL YEAR (FY) 2010 AND DELIVERED ON SCHEDULE AT THE BEGINNING OF FY 2011 UNDER NASA TASK ORDER NND10WV02T. WITH FUNDING FROM THE AMERICAN REINVESTMENT AND RECOVERY ACT (ARRA). AS ANTICIPATED AT THE BEGINNING OF THE DEVELOPMENT, SEVERAL UPGRADES AND ADDITIONAL FEATURES ARE DESIRED. THIS PROCUREMENT DESCRIBES SOME OF THOSE UPGRADES AND FEATURES. UNDER THIS TASK ORDER THE CONTRACTOR WILL BE REQUIRED TO DEVELOP AND DELIVER A MODEL OF THE SUT USING ARCHITECTURE ANALYSIS AND DESIGN LANGUAGE (AADL). AADL IS A TOOL THAT IS BEING USED BY THE INDUSTRY TO DESCRIBE DETAILS OF FLIGHT CONTROL SYSTEMS THROUGHOUT THE DESIGN STAGES. THE AEROSPACE VEHICLE SYSTEMS INSTITUTE (AVSI) AND EUROPEAN SPACE AGENCY (ESA) HAVE WORKED WITH THIS TOOL DEVELOPING MODELS FOR SYSTEMS. THIS MODEL WILL BE USED TO DEVELOP AND ANALYZE RESEARCH APPLICATIONS AND TO SUPPORT THE TESTING OF THOSE APPLICATIONS. THE SECOND TASK REQUIRES THE CONTRACTOR TO PROVIDE HARDWARE SPARES FOR THE SYSTEM THAT WAS BUILT IN THE ORIGINAL CONTRACT - $23,419 - Tuesday the 27th of November 2012
